This is barbaric. At a minimum the police should’ve advised you that you could file an emergency restraining order.
Regarding if mend have to visit their kids if they pay child support - idk where you live, but in AZ the judge told me my ex was only legally obligated to pay, not to visit my son.

I’m sorry. They don’t have to have visitation even if they’re paying child support. They might be able to have visitation if they want to, but it can be set up by the court if that happens, and there are rules he’d have to follow.

The terms of your visitation and child support are determined by the court. Each case is different but generally if one parent is responsible to contribute financially to the child then the court will try to assist them with some rights to know the child as well even if they are unfit the court will try to assist them to prove that they are fit for limited visitation IF that other parent actually wants to be in their child's life.
