Eagerly Awaited...

It was our daughter Hope's 8th Birthday on Monday and, as someone who's been playing the guitar for around a whole year now, she wanted some bits and bobs - expensive bits and bobs! - changed/added to the electric guitar that she has.

We took it in on her birthday, having already per-ordered all the parts that she wanted - new pickups and a more expensive Floyd Rose tremelo system - to be just like her hero, Steve Vai.

There's been a waiting list all week for repairs etc from the guitar store and she's been like a cat on a hot tin roof waiting for the call to pick it up. Well, this morning they called and we rushed out to get it. Must say they did a fantastic job and, yep, all that money that we spent on those parts do make it sound much better.

Suffice to say that Hope is now back with her first love - her Ibanez Jem Jnr - and playing it out in the garden, amplifier (thankfully!) on low, just so all the neighbours can hear her!

We have a happy not-so-little girl again !

This is a wonderful post.
I love to see younger people allotted the chance to learn music as a creative outlet.
It's even better when the parents support this to this extent.
Music is a wonderful thing. It's even better when you can make it yourself.
I personally hate Floyd Rose tremolo systems. I was looking to replace mine just last night and everything is either Floyd Rose or a Floyd Rose type tremolo.
I hope the both of you continue on with playing the guitar and find as much enjoyment from it as I personally do.

@Dainbramadge Thanks. Well, I was also learning for about 6 months prior to her birthday - last year - so that I could give her lessons to get her started...

I'm a teacher, by profession, so understand how important it is to encourage a child's creativity.

Not too clued up on the different types of tremelo's out there, but if it's good enough for Steve Vai then it's good enough for our girl! They are very expensive though! I've seen them for, like £500, which is more than the guitar cost! The one we got was nearing the £200 ballpark.

...and she's not your normal little girl; she loves listening to Frank Zappa, so we have to censor some of the tunes she can listen too at this young age...

Good luck with your guitar too!

@KarenDuponteDurose I'm sure the neighbours appreciated the repairs 🤣

@ozgirl512 Well, not repairs as such, more upgrades! They, erhhh, don't mind her playing...thank god! Lol!

It's so nice to hear that you're keeping her happy, Karen. Good work.

@arthurca Well, we are trying, Art! To be honest, she's a happy little girl anyways, always quite upbeat.
