International move ✅

Ever plan something but when it actually happens you freak out?

I’ve been planning and looking forward to moving from the US back home to the UK for a long time. But when it really happened, I was kind of in disbelief. Sitting in my empty house having packed everything, and thinking… omfg, this is IT! I’m never going to live here again!

It all happened so fast and before I knew it, I was in my new house with almost no furniture and so. much. decorating to do. Me and my kiddo slept on a mattress on the floor until our new beds arrived, and ate our meals on a picnic blanket in the middle of the empty living room. Those empty house days are some of the best memories we’ve created in recent times. We needed a fresh start, and that felt like exactly how I imagine the beginning of a new chapter.

I still can’t believe we actually did it, and a few months earlier than I’d planned. The different school calendars mean my kid has finished school in the US only to start here in the UK with 6 weeks left until summer, but she doesn’t mind one bit!

So goodbye Florida… hello Cornwall. Here’s to our new home 🏡
Congratulations on the new move! What courage! I did this once. Never regretted it. A new way of life. New opportunities. A fresh start. You will make this a wonderful new home. So happy for you and kiddo.

@PoetryNEmotion Thank you :) I hope it’s the same for me! So far it’s everything I imagined. It’s strange how life before the move feels so far away now.

Congrats on moving! You obviously didn't care about the struggle that moving countries and houses brings bcz you r longing to feel at home.

Yes, i wanted to work in a pub so bad. Few months ago on a Saturday i called a pub recruiting waiters and they asked me to come the same day. I only worked there for that night and quit 😂 The owner was a shitty crazy alcoholic and i can't stand that.
I decided that i don't want to work and I'll be focusing on my studies. It's okk i can still afford to eat and i don't need to work my ass off for something that won't even help me buy a house for example. Not worth it.
I was so relaxed that i didn't go on Sunday.
Days off r the best😝😝😝😝😝😂😂😂

@Hassan Lol, the reality of it was not what you expected 😂 I agree, days off are the best. Hope you’ve enjoyed all of the days off since then 😝 I put myself on maternity leave and I can tell you, some of the days off were the stuff of dreams. Highly recommend 😅

@Raffiki haha yep 😂

Cornwall is beautiful, at least it was when I lived there. I hope it’s not spoilt by overdevelopment. Good luck! 🍀
Raffiki · 22-25, F
@Carissimi Thank you! I’m from here originally and still have all my paternal family here, and it’s all just as I remember it ❤️ I even put my kid in my old school. It’s so good to be back.

That’s wonderful. I wish you happy days with your family. @Raffiki

ArminArlert · 22-25, M
@Raffiki Very pretty. There are so many hiking spots and beaches!
Raffiki · 22-25, F
@ArminArlert Kiddo is living for exploring the caves… I spend my weekends playing pirates and mermaids 😂
ArminArlert · 22-25, M
@Raffiki That sounds like a weekend well spent. 🙂

I wouldn't freak out because I've moved over 30 times already lol

Why would you want to leave Florida though?
SW-User
@Raffiki I get that...I want to move to a new country but my boyfriend doesn't want to because of his job. I'd like to live in Spain again or go somewhere warm in the U.S. He'd actually get paid more there but he's worried his conviction will get in the way lol.

I guess you've chosen a nice place in the UK which does make a difference
Raffiki · 22-25, F
@SW-User Spain sounds amazing. I’d love to live somewhere else in Europe one day, but for now being near family members is a huge deal. I need the village. And yeah, there’s a lot of places in the UK I wouldn’t want to live. We’re across the road from the beach here and that was kind of a must for me.

I do hope you're able to do you soon, too. You both deserve this new chapter in your lives.
