...would that be enough to initiate effective & restrictive gun bills that would be passed?

What kind of restrictive gun bill? It’s illegal to have a gun under 21, in Texas, yet he had one. The problem is people break the law, and even if we have severe penalties, which many states don’t, and that needs to be fixed, there will always be lawbreakers. The only thing I can think of is to make schools like fortresses. I’ve always thought American schools are too open. My high school had 8-feet railings with gates, so all the buildings where inside the gates. The recreation areas were at the back away from roads and passerby’s. Our gates were never locked during school hours because we never had school shootings back then, but they could lock them now, and have an armed guard at the gate to let people in and out. Just a suggestion.

Unfortunately you're only half right. The gun laws in Texas enable anyone over the age of 21 to buy a handgun.
However, the rifles this kid purchased were legal in every part of TX to anyone of the age of 18.

Here is the problem: you have ignored a possible solution I gave, and not giving one yourself, to help fix this problem, you hone in on age of buying a firearm. Do you really think him being a certain age would have prevented this? I’ll concede that if he had to wait until 21, then this may not have happened, but he would have probably done it 3-years later, or found another way to do harm. We need to focus on solutions that help protect schools as much as possible. No one can prevent a criminal or mentally deranged person from heinous acts 100% of the time, but we can do as much as possible to deter and prevent such acts from happening, while preserving the 2nd Amendment – which is there to protect a citizenry from a tyrannical Government.@Vin53

Funny how every single other country in the entire world doesn't have this problem and yet its only becoming more frequent here.

Our. Kids. Are. Being. Slaughtered.

Why you condone this insanity is beyond my comprehension. This simply has to stop and by any and every means possible. Do you understand? I hope you do.
