We all give up some of our freedom in the course of forging and maintaining personal connections. But we all need to balance our personal autonomy against the strength of that family, lest we be consumed by its power and suffocated until our former selves are gone.

I think it’s a balance. Really depends on your priorities and what consequences you’re willing to live with

If your family loves you back they would already know what is best for you, even with the freedom they allow. if you think they are loving family then don't bother about good or bad, but if it is otherwise i hope you gotta step out and draw the line for yourself.

If you have older parents esp sometimes it's not really a choice. You have to find the best balance you can, as others said.

It depends on the situation.

All depends on how much you have to give up, what you are giving up and why you are giving it up?
