Shouldn't all kids get to ride the bus?

In this day if all the dangers of child abduction...why are any children walking to school? I pay taxes the same as the parents living 2 miles away. Some of these really cold days are too cold to walk even 3 blocks. What are your thoughts?

It isn’t safe now, and I don’t personally know any parents who let their elementary school age kids walk to school—except one who lives across the street from the school. And even she watches him.
I lived six blocks from my school, and at age six on was walking to school. In those days, in our city, kids wore dog tags with names and addresses. I still have mine somewhere.
Funny how dangerous that actually was, but we didn’t realize it.
