Do you ever feel like you could be really screwing you kid up?

If you are a parent of course.

I have the perfect son and often look at myself and think how did he end up so perfect? There are times though when I look at him and cant help but think what if I have ever done any damage to him.
When he was younger, me and his mother who are now separated went through one hell of a messy break up that went to family court and had to deal with police and the whole nine yards.
I hope he doesn't remember any of that because well it was bad.

Maybe that is apart of being a parent, just second guessing yourself no matter how perfect your child is to you, You cant help but feel you are one step away from messing them up so much.

Being a parent truly is the most rewarding thing in my opinion but also the most stressful torturous thing you could ever do to yourself

Raising children is like learning to play the violin on stage at Carnegie hall. No one gets it perfectly right. Three out of ten is a great average in baseball. Shooting for perfection is pointless.
@redredred Your children don’t come from you, they come through you. Khalil Ghibran

they mess you up, your mum and dad.
they don’t mean to, but they do.
they give you every fault they had,
and add some just for you
😀
@newjaninev2 But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats
Who half the time were soppy-stern,
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can
And don’t have any kids yourself.

Philip Larkin. One of my favorites. The antinatalist anthem.

@newjaninev2 These lyrics work really well when sung to the theme tune of 'Last Of The Summer Wine'. (Brit tv show)
