Why do my parents drink during every event or if they're off? Isn't there other things to do?

Alcohol makes me nervous and I've been tired since Christmas eve.

Some people started drinking too much during lockdown. You're right, there are better things to do.

@Manfredthemanic Well, he shouldn't drink alcohol to get/feel better either coz it just makes you worse in the long run. I think you have more sense than he has. 👍

@Fluffybull Yes, I know, Fluffy. *hugs* I sometimes act badly because I don't know what to do with my stress.

@Manfredthemanic We're all a bit like that sometimes. Especially the last couple of years 😥

They could be drinking because they think it will help their stress or help make the moments more fun. It’s a way of not being present in the moment.
I hope you recover well from the holiday season. I know it can be very draining. 🧡

@Manfredthemanic Their drinking habits are definitely not your fault. They’re doing this to themselves.
Holiday fatigue is also not your fault. 🤗 I hope you have the greatest year, Manfredthemanic.

@SW-User Yes, but it makes me sad. I would like to spend time with them.

Thank you. *hugs* I hope you have a good new year as well.

@Manfredthemanic Of course it's not your fault. When people drink too much they get selfish, the alcohol becomes more important to them than what they should be doing 😥

My father before my parents divorced had a very good job that he worked during the day then he came home and started drinking from that time until he passed out/went to bed....while he kept his four children so his wife could work night shift. He said in retrospect when his alcoholism and resulting violence led to the divorce that he did it because his job was stressful and hurting his children while drunk was always unintentional. Maybe your parents feel the same way?

@amaricul That's very bad. 😔 *Hugs*
My dad is the only one who works right now, but his job is a little stressful. But other things can help with stress too, like walking. I have anxiety, and my parents don't care, and I wouldn't be able to drink alcohol to make it go away.

@nightjourney Yes, it's cold, but no snow yet.
I am also sick, but doctors don't know why yet. I need to have a bone marrow biopsy soon.
