I'm so proud of my niece today!

I used to be very close to my cousins who are a couple years younger than me (when I visited on vacation before we were mistaken for sisters!) In recent years they have become a little bitchy and rude to me and I know my weight is the reason. My niece (my brother's daughter) is 13 and I worry about her where body image and social pressures are concerned. But today I could have almost cried when she made such a small gesture of sticking up for me that meant so much. She entered the room my cousins and I were in, they were on one couch and I was on another and we were about to watch a movie. They called her over to sit with them and basically said 'there's more room for the three of us on here' and glanced in my direction and sniggered. My niece looked over at both options, smiled, and came to sit beside me and cuddled up without saying a word and maybe I'm putting more in to it than was meant but it was still wonderful to me.
