I did something right today
A couple of days ago, I had a fight with my brother, and I was really mad.
Today I called him, and we had a really good conversation. I apologized for my part in the fight, and explained why I got mad. He told me about some of the stressful things that have been going on for him. We agreed to help each other, and said, “I love you.” (Yes, that matters; my love language is words.)
When you don’t talk to someone directly very often, you tend to “fill in the blanks”; you make assumptions about what they’re thinking or feeling, because you don’t really know. Straightforward (but kind) conversation can work wonders.
