It’s the anniversary of my father’s death

It was exactly 10 pm
8 years ago tonight that I received the devastating news that my father had been hit by a car walking across a busy Las Vegas intersection. Apparenty there had been About 85 tragic accidents where individuals were killed the same way in the same general vicinity that year. My heart sank as I pictured the car hitting him and killing him instantly. When I think of my Dad this plays in my head and what were his thoughts before his life ended ? I know I will see him again one day. I hold on to the promises of Our gracious God .

I can’t speak for your father, but maybe if I offer what I would think about in my last moments it might be helpful.

As a father to a beautiful daughter, my focus and energy would be praying for safety and love for her and my wife. It is difficult even writing this, and really puts life into perspective. You just never know. I travel a lot for work… we just need to be careful and be compassionate to our fellow beings trying to live life as we are.

I want to give my daughter a hug now.

Really sorry for your loss. It's terrible how blind spots are not changed more to avoid these things. Would it hurt them to spend some pittance on a sign or some speed ramps or to cut shrubbery or whatever to make things a bit safer?

You have the memories of his music/songwriting words at least. My parents don't write and I imagine many others don't either. i hope that gives you some solace. I'm sure he would be glad to be remembered and loved so much.
