Any ideas on cool stuff for a kids bedroom that is both fun/exciting and relaxing?

About to start decorating 8 year olds bedroom. She sleeps with me in my bed pretty exclusively at the moment. I don’t want to pressure her into going to sleep in her room but I think it would ultimately be good for her if she does.

So I was wondering if there’s anything specific I could do with her room that will make it exciting for her & get her to want to sleep in there. Getting one of those high up beds is not really an option right now because she has nightmares at least a few times a week & sometimes gets up still half asleep, so it would freak me out with having to navigate a ladder. I just want it to be fun and feel super safe & relaxing for her.

at that age, I'd have been thrilled if someone would have just asked me what I wanted and then tried to help me bring it to fruition. that said it might be a very difficult thing to make happen and might not do well for making the place easy to resell or might not be something your landord is ok with, if you don't own the property.

@stound she has a few certain things she would like, but she’s not big on asking for things so she pretty much just smiles & says “I don’t mind” when I ask lol

I own it so all good on that front :)

@Raffiki if it's not cost prohibitive, I'd consider getting some very large sheets/rolls of craft paper, put them up with the tack (like glue that never quite sets), and let the kid go nuts with paints or crayons or whatever to do their own decoration. and then they can switch out to something else later.
