My adoptive father was a retired marine officer. And he raised me as a boot ( new inductee) . He was very demanding and hard core but he never admonished me. But that look on his face when I didnt complete a task was worse than and punishment. He didnt get to make it very often, I made sure of that. And his love and guidance made a broken little girl feel safe and gave her someone to love in return.
