Family values during pandemic

I wonder if others have also found that the restrictions caused by the pandemic have required a tightening of family rules, disciplines and routines. We certainly have

When suddenly everyone was more or less trapped at home - even livijg in the country where at least one can go ouy for walks/bike rides/etc, you do have to have more discipline or risk everyone getting a little cabin feverish.

@CarolineCarm During the first lockdown, 7 of us (plus my older brother being elsewhere), then it was 6 (one of my sisters got married!), now it's 5 and I'm in London lol

@Persephonee We are in rural farming country, but nine of us still was an issue! At one point it peaked at 11!!!

@CarolineCarm So do we...as soon as other members of the family visit it gets squishy lol

My relatives don't have formal "rules" and the like but my neice and her husband were certainly been very cautious for themselves and their children even for family gatherings.

Such meetings anyway were limited by the lock-downs and when my sisters visited me they insisted on us sitting in the garden, and them reaching that by the side gate rather than through the house.

One of my nephews (by my other sister, and now in his 20s) had apparently been lured by the pro-pandemic types on-line, and even at the height of the lock-downs reckoned it was alll nonsense. His Mum told me she told him. "Not in this house!"

The restrictions have had somewhat similar effects on the clubs and societies to which I belong.

Yes to both.... and we also found that the bonding also needed to be balanced with stronger rules about helping around the house, keeping the place tidy, and generally enforcing things more tightly

@CarolineCarm I think in our case my siblings were helped by their own children being grown, some with families of their own, but living in their own homes with their own gardens. So they were divided into very small groups in good houses.

It must have been very hard though for families with young children all living at home in cramped accommodation such as flats, with no gardens of their own.

It was certainly a new dynamic, everyone being home all the time. It’s also been a good family bonding time…family movies etc,
There are only two of us. Tbh not really. It's been a breeze. Neither one of us have gotten Covid either.
