One of the weird lotteries of life are that we do not know how long we will live..
Some die very young a select few have he privilege of attaining very old age..
Women used to routinely die in their twenties in childbirth.. Men used to drop dead of heart attacks in their forties and fifties.. the cemeteries are full of men of such ages.. These days those that do not attain older age more often are felled by cancer.. About one in ten thousand make it to 100 years of age.. I lost my Father when he was 62, my Brother at age 59.. I am older than they made it too already..... I have my Mother at age 96... and healthy. Canada because of us having universal health care and high taxes on tobacco products and a much lower level of obesity has an average life expectancy 5 years beyond that in he USA... so where you live determines how long you might live as well.. Over all G-d does not enter into contracts with us.. During Yom Kippur we plead and negotiate that we should live for another year... but of course he decides who shall live and who shall die no matter what we say or do.. Some evil people live while some good people do not.. its a lottery and we have no control over it.. We have some influence but zero control..
