The reason why women aren't allowed to be idols in many religions is due to the flaw in the MEN. It's just that men can't be trusted with their intentions when following a woman. Eastern religions regard women highly when it comes to her privacy. Breaching a woman's boundaries in a man's head is as if he has already breached her boundaries and is hence considered unacceptable. Hence women are not put on a pedestal due to the "impurity" of men. I write it in quotation marks because lust towards a person not officially bonded to them is regarded impure in certain religions. So you wouldn't know if they worship the religious entity out of purity or out of lust.
I guess this concept lies on the stereotype that most men are lead by their di.cks than their brains. Which is of course an offensive generalization.
