Why do I do things for people?

I shall never understand. Maybe my low self esteem. It can't be pure empathy. As even empathy isn't pure. Nothing is pure. Humans are fcking filthy beings. It must be my mind trying to manipulate situations in my favour. But what a costly, self destructive way to do so. Seems more like an uno reverse card where I'm just playing myself. I am a fool.
