It has some sense to it. A mistake is a mistake, but it's better to be an unintentional harmless mistake, than to be a mistake that leads to unwanted consequences.

I can think of a few exceptions to this. It really only applies to things where the outcome/consequences aren't already known or could be accurately guessed at.
