I had the craziest nightmare last night

I don’t dream that often, and when I do, I usually forget them within five minutes of waking up. Perhaps I remember a dream once a month. More so than that, I hardly EVER have nightmares, probably once a year at most. But I had the creepiest nightmare last night, and I still remember it very clearly.

So in the dream, my mom was over at my house (I live in an apartment IRL, but I lived in a house in the dream). We were bickering over something small, I don’t know what. It wasn’t really a big deal. I was being a bit snappy, but we never yelled or anything. This whole time, my boss was outside. My mom and my boss don’t know each other, so they weren’t interacting at all. I’m not sure why he was there, but eventually my mom left, so I went outside to let my boss in.

Let me preface the rest by saying that IRL, my boss is the nicest guy ever. He’s friendly and likes everyone, and we joke with each other all the time. No complaints. But in the dream, he was so insanely out of character. When I went outside, he was PISSED. Why? Apparently because I had treated my mom so incredibly badly. He was blowing it way out of proportion. He kept yelling at me, and then he started violently chasing me! I ran. He kept chasing me and yelling about what he was going to do to me. He said that he was going to fire me. Eventually we got to a building at a dead end, and he caught up. I just got on my knees and literally begged him to let me keep my job.

Then he thought for a minute, got this evil grin on his face, and said, “Oh, I’ll let you keep working at (company name)” and laughed villainously. I wasn’t sure what he was going to say, but I assumed the worst, like he would let/make me keep working there, but without pay, or make me do some sort of weird favor for him every day, or something like that.

Then I woke up, jarred awake by my alarm, and went to work. What an insane nightmare… 😱
