I find when i sleep little i do a lot of lucid dreaming where i lay in bed and fully aware of me trying to fall asleep whilst im already dreaming its amazingly weird. It all plays a part in my bedroom. People come. They communicate (through thought only but i can clearly see them) discussions are had. Some important for me some for others. I used to study in my sleep when younger. Where i would continue reading the material i had seen in the day. I could see my highlighted points. Potentially the only reason why i finished my studies. And i worked in my sleep before. All lucidly.

Dreaming is very different when you can control it :)

DomMan67 · 56-60, M
I have experienced lucid dreaming as well and learned to control it. For me it started by flying. In my dream I would do something and find myself flying. Usually by accident. Then I would determine exactly what I did to fly so I could repeat it. Of course as I learned to fly I also realized I was dreaming. Then it got real interesting because I would then try to train myself to fly in a step by step manner so I could do it when I woke up as well. I even would tell myself things like remember important steps to make sure it would work. Waking up while still feeling like you are flying is a very interesting feeling!

I have to add it has been awhile since that has happened but it was fun while it did.

I learned to lucid dream a few years after an extremely traumatic event. It was so bad that I had flashbacks even in my nightmares every night, and flashbacks all day.

Upon said event happened, My sleep schedule was pretty good. After my brain would wake me up so I wouldn't have nightmares. It wouldn't let me go back to sleep, and so I decided that I needed to learn about sleep and sleep disorders (I have three.). Eventually during my research I came across lucid dreaming and studied that for a bit until I decided to teach myself to be aware when dreaming. One lucid dreamer to me to tell myself this before falling asleep; "Tonight I will be aware when I'm dreaming.

One night as I was about to have a nightmare about it, I realized that I didn't want that to happen, which made me realize I was lucid dreaming. So I left that dream and mentally selected a more pleasant dream. When I woke up later, I realized that I had controlled the dream, and if I did it once, I knew I could do it again. It started helping me to get an hour and a half of sleep.

Now with nearly a decade later, I lucid dream during 80% percent of my dreams. I am able to sleep much longer and deeper. I think lucid dreaming saved my life. Sleep deprivation is not pleasant.
I barely remember my dreams. Unless they're traumatic like my daughter figuring out the password on my phone or my ex finding this site.

I can relate, DonMan. In my flying dreams it's more like I'm gliding a few inches above the ground. It starts by my taking longer and longer steps until I realize that my feet never have to touch the ground. I likewise realize I'm dreaming and while dreaming acknowledge the impossibility of what I am doing, yet feel comfortable that it is real then. When I do walk in real life I often sense an inclination to stretch my step a little, hoping in a way that I could the next step into a glide.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
I understand DomMan. The dreams go back to my childhood and may be related to that old game about not stepping on the lines in the sidewalk. Stretch a bit and I could skip 2 lines in the sidewalk. In my dream I could skip 3, 4 .... eventually all the lines.

In my dreams I really couldn't control it, I could just go with it. While dreaming I was aware of such supernatural feats. But they were mildly supernatural in that I could just glide inches above whatever my path, but I wasn't able to soar over the mountains or fields, or to the fly to the moon. What control I had was the choice to wake up or not. Unless there was an external force, like someone yelling about being late for school, my usual choice was to remain in those kind of dreams.

this has happened to me a few times.
sometimes it's good and others, not so good.
sometimes I just wish i'd wake up.
and I have woke up a few times and fell back asleep and the dream continues.

Yes... what's interesting... and a bit of fun is knowing you are in a dream, and thus you can try somethings with less danger...
MellyMel22 · F
Yes, exactly :)
DomMan67 · 56-60, M
@Heartlander You described my experience exactly! I was able to glide but it seemed I never had to stop gliding. I also remember the details of moving in a such a way that I could continue as long as I wanted. I also figured out I was dreaming exactly the same way you did. I knew it was impossible so I realized I was dreaming at the time. Of course, I still wanted to bring it back and would try to train myself in various ways to remember. I recall thinking things like... "Ok that didn't work so let's try this next time" etc.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
Ive had it happen a few times. Mostly i dont remember dreams. Maybe i do it all the time
walabby · 61-69, M
There's a place in Virginia where they teach people to do that.. The Monroe Institute...
MellyMel22 · F
Yes, but it's not close enough to go to for classes 😮 Haha... I think I do pretty well on my own though 😄
walabby · 61-69, M
@MellyMel22: The lucid dreaming classes are live in for 6 days.. as are the astral traveling, the remote viewing, and a bunch of others..
MellyMel22 · F
Oh okay
They are! Scariest dreams I've ever had!
SoundHound · 56-60, M
That's honestly incredible.
I can't say that I've ever had or even experienced a lucid dream. You have certainly caused me to contemplate the subject though
MellyMel22 · F
It's a great experience that I believe most people can have at times if they try to remember.
SoundHound · 56-60, M
this seriously has me intrigued Mel
MellyMel22 · F
You should read on it. Awhile ago I was looking for a link to share with a friend to explain it to her and when I found one I remember it mentioning tips for people to try to have lucid dreams. Some may sound a little silly, but I wouldn't be surprised if they work.
Groofydorkgerdo · 56-60, M
Thank goodness this is hear. I have heard of lucid dreaming, but no until now I was the only one I knee that experienced it. No one even knew what I was talking about until a group called Queens Ryche wrothe a song called, 'Silent Lucidity'.
Saxo2000 · 41-45, M
Very cool that you helped your son minimise his nightmare :)

I love lucid dreaming but I think I have only been really successful once but it was so great to have your deepest desires come true
MellyMel22 · F
@Saxo2000 Thanks and nice 🙃
John84 · M
Ive actually had a lot of lucid dreams. It started young and as i got older i could realize i was in them and control them more. It was actually kind of fun at times but some ended up as very bad nightmares.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
All my dreams are lucid. I often think,"this would make a great movie or novel idea" but when I wake up the whole dream doesn't make sense :P
MellyMel22 · F
Haha..
MellyMel22 · F
Mine were too SBelle. Just try to remember it's not real and nothing can hurt you. You have to keep reminding yourself that! It didn't happen over night for me, but with little steps :)
MellyMel22 · F
SBelle- That's how it was for me when I was a young child. You definitely have the awareness, so I'm sure you can eventually control them in time!
MellyMel22 · F
That would be great! But I'll take control in dreams if it's all I get! Better than nothing :)
I am always looking in like I am watching what is happening but have no control- I dont know what that means
cjz1964 · 56-60, M
No, in fact I either don't get good REM sleep or I don't dream very much, because I rarely remember dreaming.
DomMan67 · 56-60, M
@MellyMel22 If only bringing it back to the real world worked! I assure you I tried. lol
MellyMel22 · F
I remember that one CallMe! Lmao.. You were in a panic!
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
lol ive heard of it for a long time always fascinated by it
I hope so Mel- they are recurring and sometimes horrific.
UserNameSW · 46-50, M
@hopeless
I think those are called nightmares
I was!! I've never been so happy to be dreaming!
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
ive heard of it just never experienced it
Just4fun · 51-55, M
That would be interesting
Yes, once or twice . Very enjoyable .
thank you Melly🙂

Nice DomMan67!

💤 Dream Master! 😴
MellyMel22 · F
That's great @Peanutsauntie! I'm happy to have discovered it too :) I hope everything else is also better now after what you went through.
MellyMel22 · F
Vetguy- People normally look at me like I'm crazy if I ask them if they experienced it. So don't feel bad, it must not be really common.
MellyMel22 · F
If you're in control at that time, you should be able to turn it around or not be afraid :)
For some reason I'm not able to add you or message you.
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
did you learn how to do it?
