A Lesson Learned The Hard Way...
Sometimes Life Requires Drastic Changes
After years of developing bad habits and letting your condition deteriorate the desire to change often becomes urgent. This desire tells you that you have to change these things about your life ASAP and tells you that you have to make drastic leaps.
It applies to any area in a persons life, you could be at school and never paid attention in math then suddenly you have an exam in a week and your mind tells you that you have to become a maths whizz within a week.. you could be addicted to drugs and be failing to pay your rent then think that you need to stop taking drugs that moment. You could be invited to a party but never go outside and avoid all social situations then your mind tells you that you are too awkward to go... The truth is you will never get good at math in a week, you'll most likely never kick an addiction at will and you won't become a social butterfly by not going to the party.
Think of the mind as a machine that you operate, you can't fly a car and your mind is not designed to quickly change a lifetime of routine. Small changes are easier to do, maintain and evolve. Just because you are most likely going to fail at the upcoming task that requires you to change does not mean you shouldn't start making small steps towards it.
