What does "We the People" mean?

Is there such a thing a "society"? Was there ever? Why do people use that word?

What is a way of talking about ourselves that is not divisive?

I don't like the word society much. To me it means 'people that should get on only because they live randomly in the same place'.

I prefer the word 'community'.

At the same time, I think divisions are natural and there is nothing wrong with them.
