I remember growing up

I always wanted to be a housewife. I remember my dream was to have two kids, a house, a motorcycle, a dog and a cat, and a happy home.

As I got older, I added having a garden to that list.

But as I got older, i also needed to come to terms that I wasn't going to be married right away. I hadn't even really dated much. Two guys in high school. That meant I had to actually work towards a career.

I never did let go of that dream though.

When I lived in Yuma, AZ, i was a housewife because it was too expensive to pay for baby sitting on the wages paid there unless you had a Master's degree. It was just cheaper to stay home and take care of the kids. That caused a lot of depression for me. There really wasn't anything community wise to do, especially with kids. I was literally home all the time.

When we moved to San Diego, there was more community. I did get jobs, but mostly to pay for preschool so the kids could become socialized. I enjoyed being a stay at home mom more then as there was a lot more to do there and more opportunities to meet people.

Then, I went back to work. My husband became the stay at home dad, but that wasn't really ideal. It was just what we had to do.

As I have gotten older, I would love to be a stay at home person again. Not a wife, because I won't remarry. Not a stay at home girlfriend because honestly, I don't want my significant other to live with me. Lol so there is no pathway to being a stay at home person currently lol

But it doesn't stop me from dreaming that maybe, one day, I find someone who is my person, who makes me want to live with them and exist with them and I can be their stay at home person to cook, clean and create to my heart's delight.

But I suppose, much like my early years, tthat is just a dream.

As you get older, there are many factors to consider. Sometimes friendship and companionship may work out with two compatible persons, if both wants same arrangement. That can be a relationship with caring and yet having own personal freedom.
There are many people like us, who don’t want to settled lifestyle, even though it is not perfect.
