Growing up in a non-hugging household has me patting people on their backs when they cry.....

Its strange. I grew up in a hugging family, but only within the family. We would never think of hugging anyone else. However i indentify strongly with this thread. I only ever wanted a home noone could take away and having someone who would never leave me.
