Who else was forbidden from climbing while growing up?

My mother outlawed that so as a result my brother and I never learned how to climb. In her words she didn't want us turning into little savages climbing on things. Everytime we tried we were yelled at. I distinctly remember attempting to climb a tree and getting screamed at. My classmates could climb and jump fences but I could not and was too afraid to try.

No, we were a sort of mocked for having fear of heights when we climbed the ladder to the roof. It had always been more like "when I was your age I easily climbed on the top of that tree..."
