When you were growing up, did your parents routinely have "before dinner drinks"?

My parents did not, although they sometimes had them when we went to a restaurant.
My wife's parents did this at just about every dinner.

This sometimes led to an awkward conflict of expectations at extended family gatherings.

My dad was a purveyor of fine wines and liquors to the movie colony of Palm Springs so he was required to be well-informed on the finest wines in order to assist them on a quality wine and beverage cellar.

@JustGoneNow Thank you so much honey. I was plagued with maturity onset of "Tonic-Clonic" seizure activity. I have it pretty well controlled now thanks to medication. I've missed you and many others who have alway's provided me with a great support system. I sincerely hope you are doing well, are you still with your girlfriend? LOVE YOU!
