I Had A Strict Mother Growing Up

My mother favoured the hairbrush. My dad preferred the clothes brush or cane. Be said the hairbrush handle was too small for his hands!

The fear i had as i saw the cane i knew i was for it,
Denise61 · F
@sarahcs it was a horrible feeling and your stomach dropped as you saw it
sarahcs · 56-60, F
@Denise61 tears started, and had no idea how i could take it
@sarahcs How did you actually do? I have had only moderate samples and they are something else! No shame involved in "howling" or as one Brit once said, "singing out!"

@sarahcs Yes the worst was being told you were in for a thrashing and having to wait and think about it
JayneA · 36-40, F
@Denise61 Yes your stomach dropped and you already felt the pain before it happened
Denise61 · F
@JayneA yes that is very true. Waiting was almost as bad
@Denise61 Was the first cane stroke any sort of relief from the fear of the waiting?
Denise61 · F
@Alfred22 not really just a red line of fire really
@Denise61 It is as intense an experience as I have ever had.
Denise61 · F
@Alfred22 one way of putting it
@Denise61 How does it compare with having a baby? It is often compared unfavorably, with caning being much worse!
Denise61 · F
@Alfred22 actually the thing they have in common for me is that both soon after you say you will do that again but time heals the pain
@Denise61 I am unsure what exactly you meant: you will do that again..."
Or, possibly more likely, you will [not] do that again? I can make sense of it either way!
Denise61 · F
@Alfred22 I meant right after my first child I swore that was it for me re children I didn't want to go through that again but time dulls the pain
@Denise61 OK, I thought that was the more likely reading but there are others and they are interesting also. I didn't mean to be impolite.
@Alfred22 Growing up I heard about how angry birthing moms were at the pain and the guys who had gotten them pregnant. Childbirth has improved since those days but a long labor is still very uncomfortable. You are right, memory does play with us!
@sarahcs At what point in your school caning did you get a good look at the cane the Headmistress was wielding? Did it have a crook handle?
@JayneA If they actually used the term "thrashing," it would have really scared me. While, for sure, any firm strokes of the cane constitute a thrashing, I would have found the use of that description very intimidating. Often euphemistic descriptions of a caning are employed: a "talk" with the Headmaster; your appointment with the Head, …
