Whew! Managed to talk my way out of jury duty

Good way to end the week.

@Bexsy I guess telling them in person that I only want to do death penalty cases did the trick.

@JohnnyNoir I recently served on a murder one jury. We convicted. While tedious at times, I feel it is a duty, honor, and privilege to serve. If ever I found myself on trial rightly or ,esp, wrongly, I'd want peers who felt the same way.

The alternative is a possibly capricious individual judge.

Interestingly, our judge met with us afterward to thank us for our service. When she was asked how she would have decided, she demurred - telling us that is one of the reasons she likes jury trials. It is not on her alone

@Neoerectus no problem with that at all.

I always remember a joke from a movie that I can't remember of course, but one of the characters says regarding going to trial that you're putting your life into the hands of 12 people not smart enough to get out of jury duty

I just walk in wearing a grim reaper outfit...although it is tough getting the scythe past security.

It's the worst. You have to deal with people.

@BuzzedLightyear no time for that
