I agree with you entirely. When people make self deprecating statements as warnings they are often lined with truth. They can also often be a ready made excuse for future bad behaviour, as in "I told you that I'm shit so it's not my fault".

@SW-User I call it "an insurance clause". If you knowingly build a house on the edge of a crater of a recently active volcano you can hardly complain if it'll fall down.

@CrazyMusicLover the difference is you can physically see those things. It's hard to know the true reason behind anyone's words.
