What’s the most disturbing secret you’ve discovered about someone close to you?

I had a co-worker 15 years ago who I found out was a convicted sex offender. I was trying to help him get a job at my job I worked at about 7 years ago. It came up in a background check. The funny thing was is he was a such a magnet for the ladies in our office. He was 6 foot 3, muscular, was a musician. He was a science nerd, soft spoken but whitty. He was married (still is) and still had a lot of women attention.

His past came up prior to the background check. He was afraid during his job interview, that I gave a reference for, that they would find his sex conviction and just told our HR person in the interview. HR realized I didn't know and wasn't ticked off at me but I was really taken aback that he had that in his background.

This is not very disturbing stuff but sometimes I worry about it: Either a) lies told about me by Mum to other family members that got back to me, or b) the fact that my parents dabbled in the occult before I was born.
