I Go Barefoot To School

Forgot My Shoes... I've always preferred to be barefoot, but when I started kindergarten, they told me I had to wear shoes. For most of my school life I've worn shoes to school and taken them off when I got home. Then one day last year, I forgot my shoes and drove to school barefoot. I stayed barefoot the whole day, really enjoyed it, and none of my teachers noticed. Some of my friends noticed, but they're used to seeing me barefoot everywhere outside of school, so they didn't think anything of it.

I enjoyed being barefoot so much that I did it again the next day, and kept on coming to school barefoot. A few of my friends did the same. A few weeks later, I was talking to the principal about something else, and asked him why I hadn't gotten in trouble yet. He said that the dress code didn't specifically mention shoes, so he decided that going to school barefoot was allowed. I was really happy to hear that, and ended up going barefoot for the rest of the year. This year, I started going barefoot again, and I plan to keep it up until it gets too cold. A pretty good size number of my friends occasionally show up to school barefoot now, and I'm in a school play where my character is barefoot.

I'm just curious, where do you go to school that allows bare feet? you don't have to be specific, just a general idea. Because schools in the US don't allow bare feet.

I go to school on the East Coast. As far as I can tell, being allowed to go barefoot is because of an oversight more than any intentional policy. Our school district's dress code just doesn't mention shoes except to say that you need them for lab science classes.

It sounds brilliant! Its gd that you've started the trend!
