Why We're Supporting Bill Hedrick For The California 44th District... In all the time we've lived in the California 44th District, we have endured the frustration and anger that comes with having Congressman Ken Calvert as our Representative (supposedly) in Washington. He's a Republican bobblehead -- automatically voting against everything that would make America a cleaner, better place.
While voting against keeping jobs in America, bringing our troops home with honour, sane immigration reform, health care, gay marriage and help for family farmers, his record of corruption is outrageous. According to Think Progress, last year Calvert and a business partner bought a four-acre parcel of land in Riverside County for $550,000; after securing federal funds for the expansion of a nearby freeway interchange, along with federal money to support commercial development in the area, they sold the property for nearly $1 million.
Right now we'd vote for a cheeseburger if it ran against Calvert, but Bill Hedrick is much better than a cheeseburger. He's a clean cut family man and a former school superintendent with a good track record on balancing budgets. He wants to end NAFTA and keep jobs right here. He's for renewable and alternative energy solutions. He wants to put an end to No Child Left Behind. (School teachers love him!!!) MOST of all, he supports REAL health care reform to cover ALL Americans, including a public option. He even wants to introduce legislation that would allow states to adopt a single payer (Canada-like) system!!! Say, I LIKE this guy.
The real "tea party" is that which expresses TRUE American attitudes -- cleaning out corruption and putting honest, hard-working Americans in charge. If you're not in the California 44th you can still give to Hedrick's campaign. Even a few dollars helps.
