I Said Sorry To A Woman I Had An Affair With

I had an affair with a woman who I planned to leave my wife for when my marriage was in bad shape. Really bad. We went to counseling and fixed our problems. So after 6 months, I wrote the woman a letter. I knocked and left. I explained everything to her. She emailed me back telling me to go to he'll and not contact her again. She was terribly bitter. I can accept that. But wouldn't you have more respect for someone who...not trying to get in her pants or become friends...but instead just wanted to set it straight? It was a step for me to forgive myself for getting her involved.
