I Collect Cd's

In Love With This Seemingly Unloved Medium... I am always under the impression that this medium is somewhat unloved...CDs seem to be book-ended by vinyl nostalgia, or the current vogue for downloading. But this is the medium that I grew up with, and quite honestly I do not have any intentions of changing the way I have listened to music over the past decade and a half.

For one thing, I find downloading to be a soulless experience. I enjoy having something tangible, and the pleasure of buying a CD in a secondhand record store of charity shop - often on a whim from a band I've never heard of before - is such that downloading could never hold a candle to it. I enjoy flicking through the inlay / booklets...I even like the smell of the printing, especially from the glossy ones! Quite often they can be a valuable source of information, especially if they are an obscure band. There is also the excitement and sense of anticipation when I await Mr. Postman to bring the latest CD I have ordered

Besides, I have amassed so many CDs over a 15 year period that it is too daunting a task to transfer them onto my computer's hard drive

As long as there is such a thing as a CD, then I will remain loyal to this medium.
