I My Definition Of Success

"success" what does it mean?? growing up, i thought that what society taught me e.g. having a good career, good job, nice house, nice car, money in the bank was the ultimate form of success, but nowadays i couldn't disagree more!! i mean, these are all good things to have, don't get me wrong, i'm not saying people shouldn't strive to achieve these things, but i just don't see them being as important as their made out to be,in terms of being successful!!

this all came to me one day, when i was talking to a work colleague about things that happened in my life, and at one point she said "you know, you could write a book with all that's happened in your life,it would be interesting!!" then it hit me!! what if having a good job, nice big house, fancy car, money etc etc isn't exactly the best way to describe someone who is successful? someone could achieve all that and still be the most boring person on the planet with the most boring life, not to mention the amount of people who have already achieved all this and still aren't happy!!

what if you were told, that your life is like an open book, a blank book, and you have to fill it??how will it read?? will it read : young person grows up, goes to school, when 16, learns to drive, goes to college after college, parties for a few years before settling down, getting a good job getting married, having kids and growing old!! sounds like a typical successful person according to society, but it also sounds rather boring!! what if you were told that you don't need to do all those things in that exact order? what would happen if you broke away from the norm? you might not be living your life according to society's way of thinking, but you might find that what you end up doing with your life, is a whole lot more fulfilling!! your job and your company will be here when you're not, your house will be here when you're not, your car and your money will all be here when you're not, your not taking it with you!! this is your life, its your story make it a good one...

what i'm trying to say, is that life is here to be lived, not to be so concentrated on work that it takes over your life, and possessions will all be here when your not, so live life to the full and enjoy the ride!!

if you can live like that, and have no regrets, then that's my idea of success!!
