My favorite scene in The Matrix is when Morpheus meets Neo for the first time. He shows him two pills: a blue pill and a red pill.
If Neo chooses the blue pill he'll wake up in his bed and forget about everything that has happened to him; but if he selects the red pill "he will see how far the rabbit hole goes," and the "real world" will be
exposed to him.
Right before Neo selects the pill, Morpheus says, "All I'm offering you is the truth, nothing more."
Of course Neo selects the red pill; who would turn down the real truth about anything if it were offered?
