I Just Made Some Flapjacks
I had a morning off from moms today...so ... Set about to make me a delicious home made treat.....
.
6oz butter or substitute..
6oz brown sugar..
8oz of rolled oats...
pinch of salt.
now that's the basic recipe...
but i add one, many, or more of the following....
sultanas
dried apricot..
crushed pecans...
desicated coconut
mixed spice
cloves or clove spice
ground nutmeg
ground cinnamon...
and basicaly anything else you have in the cupboard....
experiment....thats the key....
oh yeah...one other thing...
for that gooey texture....
golden syrup....a must.....
as much as you want....hehehe
..
melt the butter in a saucepan over a VERY gentle heat...
mix the sugar and syrup..into the melted butter...
add the salt and spices...into the buttery mixxxx....stirred well to dissolve the sugar and syrup....
pour the melted mixture....into the oats in a big mixing bowl....
mix well.....making sure all the oats are well covered....
turn out mixture into a Swiss roll tin.... And level out with a pallet knife.....
cook on a moderate oven for about 30min....or untill golden brown....
leave in the tin till cooled...
turn on to a chopping board...
and cut into slices when cool..
as i say....you can then coat them in chocolate or fondent icing...
add anything to the mix
don't be afraid....thats what cooking had taught me...just go for it
