I can't swim but need to learn, did any of you learn to swim in the sea instead of the chlorine bath ?

I can't swim but regularly go out on a boat, need to learn how to swim but no way going to a swimming pool, if any of you learnt how to swim in the sea please tell me how ?
P.s please feel free to take the piss I would

If I were around boats, I'd learn to swim better. But I've given up on actual swimming and just aim for staying afloat. Or not going into water!
