I can't swim but need to learn, did any of you learn to swim in the sea instead of the chlorine bath ?

I can't swim but regularly go out on a boat, need to learn how to swim but no way going to a swimming pool, if any of you learnt how to swim in the sea please tell me how ?
P.s please feel free to take the piss I would

Sure. just go out waist deep and swim parallel to the beach. Safe & easy place to learn.

@ajoite: no probs. I'd start by trying breaststroke or sidestroke, easier to learn than freestyle/crawl, even if they're slower
