Have you ever taken an anti-anxiety pill?

What was your experience? I'm gonna take one tonight.
Nyanperona · 26-30, T
I tame buspar. it was more to stop mood swings but its an anti anxiety. Ive also taken xanax but xanax gave me hallucinations
MrSpecialEnough · 22-25, M
I didn't know there were anti anxiety pills, I thought there were anti depressants only.
@AiyanaIsNummerEins: who gives a crap about that?! it's more important what's in the heart! what is on the inside!
MrSpecialEnough · 22-25, M
@AliceinWonderland: But I care about that. 😢 Not only to impress others but also myself.
@AiyanaIsNummerEins: i'm sorry. yeah i know how you feel.

They may be fine for some people, but they have an adverse effect on me. I got more jittery and fearful, and started to feel as if I was staked out on an ant hill.

Oh and I forgot the most delightful side effect. I hallucinated. At the ripe old age of 50 they decided I must be schizophrenic. They wanted to treat my for it, but my daughter was involved with decision making while I was ill. She wanted my family doctor consulted. He reminded the docs at the hospital that the hallucinations began within a day of taking Ativan. They stop giving me that and suddenly I was no longer hallucinating.

Thank goodness for good daughters.

I did when I had a procedure done once. It was glorious. Like a 6 pack of beer all at once.
Elegy · 46-50
@AliceinWonderland: Lol, if it takes the anxiety does it need to do more or are you hoping for a buzz because I can get on board with either. :P
@Halcyon: i just want all this craziness to be sorted out
Elegy · 46-50
@AliceinWonderland: When you see your doctor hopefully they can review your medications.

I've taken ativan for emergencies, and I take escitalopram for anxiety.

Yes, lots of different ones. Benzos work as advertised, but they make you very groggy and uncoordinated. I just tried Zopiclone for the first time, which isn't as sedating but tastes horrible.
ddt333 · 56-60, M
Yes, Xanax and Klonopin. Low dose. It's makes you feel relaxed but you can't abuse them. Over time you may become dependent on them. Stay low dose if you absolutely need them.
@ddt333: she didn't prescribe me a lot i don't think.

I've tried one for sleep and did nothing at all. Another one is in the anti anxiety group but don't take it for that and have it at night. Can make me a little sleepy. Sometimes makes me hungry.
SW-User
Yes, I took one last week before a dentist appointment. It mostly just makes me feel sleepy and slow almost like I am moving in slow motion.
TheOrionbeltseeker · 36-40, M
No, i have been super anxious and right now also, i am bit anxious but never took the pill till now.
@Veeshalgreek: i'm sorry you feel anxious
littlepinklotus · 41-45, F
I take them. It calms me down a bit. Other than that I chew gum. Like when I am at the store and I start to panic gum helps me calm down.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
Yes, multiple different kinds. They're all quite different and work differently for different people.
SW-User
I have. It's supposed to help me sleep, but it didn't really do much. I feel like it was too mild.
SW-User
YEah, I take Lorazepam on an as needed basis. It makes me feel nice and chill, I love it. But highly addictive.
No. I thought I would need to at one time, but avoided it.

Good luck. Hope it does what you need it to do.
SW-User
It made me fall asleep, like out for hours.
*Will not ever do that again*
they help a bit sometimes when things get out of hand
Tminus6453 · M
Whats it called?...
@Tminus6453: i don't know. i haven't gotten it yet.
Tminus6453 · M

@MalteseFalconPunch: and it is ok for you? i mean no side effects?
Snickerdooodle · 31-35, F
They're great.
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
You wont feel it overnight. It takes a week or so until it kicks in.
SW-User
Xanax is a prescription too, Ativan what my Dentist gives me for my appointments takes 1 1/2 hours to kick in, but works pretty quickly still that also is a prescription. They generally don't like to give them out too much because they are so strong.
@ScarletWitch: it is a prescription
SW-User
Benzodiazepines are anit-anxiety and all are prescriptions some are short acting and quick and others are slow release.
mynewhate · 31-35, M
I'm on wellbutrin have also been on abilify/celexa. Have had ups and downs with all of them
Thefightingangel · 31-35, M
I use to take lexapro. They say it takes a few weeks to start working
5thApprentice · 31-35, M
Nah. GL with that
@5thApprentice: it's like which pill to take? i'm in the matrix!

@LvChris: ironic isn't it? to make you so you aren't nervous yet you are too nervous to take it
