Why are kids content to sit inside 24/7 these days?

When I was 7,8 years old, all I wanted to do was go outside, play football with kids on the street, get a pickup game of basketball going, ride my bike, go for walks in the woods, just explore the outdoors and have fun. I've always had access to video games and a phone, but they do not seem as fun to me. Man, times have changed.

[c=#BF0080] I know right? I was the same way! I always had a computer and phone and video games and a tv growing up, and we played on it sometimes but always much more preferred to play outside! We would play outside all day until it was dark. You couldn't get us to sit inside all day unless it was rainy and then we played and danced and we're active inside. We had so much energy and curousity, loved exploring and playing sports. I don't understand this new generation. Its strange. I don't know why no one wants to play and be active anymore. That was such a hugeongeous part of my childhood. It seems lacking and odd without it.[/c]

@PrettyPoison: Agreed, the activity is good for the kids. Physical activity and curiosity are good for a young, developing mind. Bad weather was the best time to get out. I loved playing football in the snow and rain. When my family used to own a shore house, I would spend summer days fishing and out on a boat, didn't have a care in the world about weather. Simple times, good times, wouldn't trade them for the world.
