Why are kids content to sit inside 24/7 these days?

When I was 7,8 years old, all I wanted to do was go outside, play football with kids on the street, get a pickup game of basketball going, ride my bike, go for walks in the woods, just explore the outdoors and have fun. I've always had access to video games and a phone, but they do not seem as fun to me. Man, times have changed.

I loved playing outside as a kid, but I could only go out if someone was willing to watch me.

You know, you gotta think about that. How many parents let their children roam outside on their own? Plus, parents are more busy than before, so who knows when they spare time to watch their kid play outside.

I didn't have the luxury of growing up with a backyard, so I was stuck playing in the driveway and the sidewalk that was just right outside my house.

@BlackBloodDemon: I did not have a backyard either, which just made me want to make friends with other kids even more.

@jfinn298: Yea, I get that. The thing was though, I wasn't really allowed to play with the other kids. Very rarely would my parents allow me, and it didn't even matter because they weren't really fond of me.

@BlackBloodDemon: I understand man, it's hard to fit in sometimes. I've been there. As for parents, they all have a different approaches. To each their own.

@jfinn298: Yea, and to be honest, I wasn't really fond of the kids either, but I kept quiet about it. xD We were really different types of kids (there were only about 2 kids my age in the neighborhood and they're siblings, and we never talk anymore even though our houses are directly across from each other).

@BlackBloodDemon: That's life man. Hey, I got lucky. I grew up in a very diverse neighborhood. We all clicked and bonded over a love of sports so that our differences never occured to us.

@jfinn298: That's good for you. It's always good to get along with people different from you. I always liked to ride on my bike and scooter, but other than that I wasn't (and still not) much of a sports person.

I also preferred to keep to myself than being with other kids (I probably became like that from being isolated from other kids). I really only played with my best friend (who I only get to see once a week) and sisters. Now, we're all grown up. Where has the time gone, lol.

@BlackBloodDemon: I hear you man. I used to love my razor scooter, until I rode it into a ditch....

@jfinn298: That really sucks.
I still have my razor scooter, and it still works like a charm (it's a little rusty, but that just shows how old it is). I'm a little tall for it now, but that won't stop me from using it.
Razor scooters are literally the best scooters (or they were).

@BlackBloodDemon: Still are the best. Nostalgia.
