I attempted to file my taxes. The gov. rejected my return because of minor details, and their site gave the run around when I attempted to ask for an

extension. The WHOLE problem is They have outdated information about me on file, and I have NO clue how to go about fixing it. I'm mainly just whining, but if you have GOOD, accurate advice on how to fix it, PLEASE tell me how. I will block ANYBODY who posts nonsense on this page.

Update: The WHOLE problem was I typed in 1 wrong digit into a number that is completely meaningless to everybody except my boss and the IRS. But, I still have to fix the minor details which I thought were the problem to begin with.

Did you try calling the IRS? I know it can take a long time to get to a real person and can be frustrating but it is really your only option.

@gingershuman: did they send you a letter? If they did, there will be some kind of reference on it. I'm not surprised they blew you off. You have to be persistent. And you must sound confident, like you are in charge.

I concur with the others here, you need a tax specialist/accountant and/or attorney to help you out with this one. The tax rules can be so over complicated, that's why I pay someone to do mine.

Get a certified tax specialist. It is almost impossible to do this on your own.

You need a tax attorney. I have a friend who went through this.

You should log it with them and insist they sort it ASAP
