I am on them. It's a pretty low dose. It helps even out my moods so that I don't go into a dark pit of despair. It doesn't make me a robot though. I got lucky that the first anti depressant I tried worked for me. For some of my friends it took a few to figure out which one worked for them.

@Pimpedcheerios88: The first one was Lexapro. It made me sick a lot.

That sounds awful. I'm on Paxil and have been for about fourteen or fifteen years

@Pimpedcheerios88: I've been on Cymbalta for about 8 years.

They have different effects on different people. Brain chemistry is complicated.

They do the job for me. It's not good if I run out, though.

I take a low dose for anxiety/depression. It "lifts me up" enough so that I'm not crying at awkward times. Has always worked for me. But I know ppl who have to try several different meds to get the right one, which can take a long time to figure out. --DW

I take escitalopram for anxiety and depression, and it doesn't give you that feeling of elation, it's more like finding thoughts of suicide and stuff less interesting. And in times of anxiety, keep your head clear enough to think it through. It's a medium to help you change your thought process, from my experience.
I've tried going off of them though, and I can't. But they also aren't really working for me anymore.

@SBelle: Buspar has been one of the most recent suggestions made by my doctor, but that's on hold until I've got some more pressing medical matters dealt with. He said that if that doesn't work then he's gonna refer me out to a psychologist to see if they can figure something out.

@UndeadPrivateer: I find Buspar to be a lightweight as far as changing your moods into something more crazy as some people feel. I never quit them and I also have citalopram a benzo and trazadone so there is my cocktail

@SBelle: Duly noted. I'll probably be seeing how it works for me eventually.
