i find that the more you know about random stuff the more easily you'll have stuff to talk about - usually i go round robin stuff like
family/work/relationship - news - cake/party/food - dance/music/books - work/family/relationship and so on

I learnt to imitate the enthusiasm of my extroverted friends and it works

Best way to get better at small talk is to turn the conversation to being about them.
Things you know about them; things you can compliment about their appearance; what they are currently interested in; their interests; life goals; music; sports; clothing etch etc.
Everybody responds better when the conversation is about them.
And if it's full of admiration. Clothing; hairstyle; make-up; shoes etc. it gives folk a better feeling about themselves and puts you in a positive light.

You can practice it, like an act really. It will probably never come as naturally as people who can just chat for hours, but you will be able to switch into that mode when you need to. The secret is mostly to have a few topics you can talk about already in mind, and then finding a non-weird way to initiate the conversation (usually a smile and a nod acknowledging the other person's presence will be enough)

I hate small talk. Why would someone ask me how my day went or what I'm doing when they don't care? Then I have to act interested when they tell me how they're feeling. I don't give a 2 shits how you're feeling. Just leave me alone and stop wasting my time.

Yes. Social skills are skills and you can always work on and improve your skills 😊

but how ?

Try to just talk to people more. Say thank you more and talk to random people in the elevator instead of just standing there awkwardly. Start with the small stuff like that and work your way up to being more social

You're only 16-17 and a lot of girls your age are 'socially awkward' it's a phase and you'll definitely get over it 👍

Just ask them questions. Ppl love to talk about themselves. Theyll think u love to listen to them. Its a win win. U dont have to talk much.
