I learned a new word a few days ago btw

Pedantic

I was trying to explain what he does when I point something out. Because sometimes he wants to miss my point just to always state the obvious and it really frustrates me. I get so irritated sometimes I just want to have a normal conversation with him and I noticed with like anyone else you simply can’t have a conversation with people because they want to be correct. They want to be technical they want to audit every single sentence you say. So it makes it hard to even talk to people these days. People are so used to internet arguments that they start looking for mistakes to correct instead of trying to understand what someone meant. And I’m not saying that he gets into online arguments. I’m just pointing out how it’s similar to what people do in real life and where it comes from he’s not the only one that does it, and I think it comes from that even though he rarely gets into Facebook arguments.

But yeah, when I called him out for doing that and I was describing what he was doing cause he wanted to know what he was doing and he was like “ yeah that makes sense now, didn’t realize how pedantic I was”
And I’m like pedantic what does that mean? 😂😂🤣 and when he explained it I’m like yep, that’s definitely you to a damn T!! 😂😂

Nice to see some kind of vocabulary instead of silly street talk.

@JimboSaturn exactly!!! I’m always giving him a hell for that! I told him that it’s not cool. OK you’re not from the streets you literally almost have your masters degree. You talk to everybody else appropriately you’re able to be professional and have good communication skills and have a high vocabulary with other people but with me I just get this street dude and that’s just so unattractive and I’ve told him this so many times

@TurtlePink Did you compliment him for using his professional words?

@TurtlePink have you reached an agreeable level of formality that you are happy to accept?

Just try using the work "accurate" instead of "pedantic". Sometimes a pedantic view is needed. I once had to read through a 200+ page contract to find one word- one word- which completely negated the essence of the contract. (Instead of saying "will pay xxx amount" as the proposal said when it was sent, the contract came back reprinted saying "will not pay xxx amount".)

Example - My wife was a Court Reporter for decades. They are the "secretaries" who type down everything everyone says in the courtroom on a strange typewriter-ish machine.
Anyway, this reminded me of a case she had once. The person who was giving testimony was accused of doing something that they really didn't do. One of the lines read, "I injured him??!!!!!" If someone is being "pedantic", the meaning would probably be lost. (Just take it down - I injured him.). If one is being "accurate", they would have to note that he answered in shocked disbelief, totally surprised, rising of the tonalities of what he said. "I injured him????? " [implied meaning- You are crazy! I didn't injure him!!!].

Just stick to the truth- be it accurate, pedantic, trivial, straightforward, unbelievable, whatever.
