My One Night of Fame 馃槀
Now, I don't like to brag. Never have, but this really meant something to me, so I just wanted to share. Then you tell me about the highlight of [i]your[/i] life, okay?
It was karaoke night down in Central City, a few miles from me. I went there with a couple from my building, and their mom and dad. We just went to eat, then stayed for the karaoke. The guys mom wanted me to get up and sing. It was noisier than all get out, people taking turns singing. I got up there and started singing "Johnny Get Angry" and it was like time stopped. Everybody got so quiet you could hear a pin drop. When I got done, everybody clapped like crazy, and I went back and took my seat. Meanwhile, my friend David went outside for a smoke. One guy was talking to David, and said, "Did you hear that girl? Man, now that girl can sing!" I tell you, that was the highlight of my life right there. I cannot tell you what that meant to me. I'll never forget it as long as I live, because all my life I've wanted to be nothing but a singer. I truly believe I was born to be a singer. Just getting to experience that once was such a thrill. I know you know what I'm talking about. I can't sing as good as I used to and that kills me, but I'm not too bad either. I still sing specials at church. Have led the singing there for two years.
