so apparently they have been sending my son to go get breakfast every morning

I mean, he eats here and I send him with snacks in his backpack but he told his teacher that he was hungry and then one of the aids asked if he ate breakfast in the cafeteria like with the other kids and he said no so every morning since Friday, he’s been going to get breakfast 😅😅 it’s kind of embarrassing cause it makes it seem like I’m not feeding him. It just I told his teacher that sometimes he doesn’t wanna eat early in the morning and if he can have his snack in class when he gets there. They should’ve just looked in his backpack. I mean, I’m not worried about it, but I’m glad his teacher told me about it now and not me finding out at the end of the year and then wondering why he has a big bill on his account and even though breakfast is only like two dollars, it’s just they are in school for like 200 days so that’s like $400 at the end of the school year. And imagine if his sister was doing that too that’s $800 extra not to mention lunch is $3.10 per kid per day so I’m thinking about finding a way where they can get reduced lunches. If that’s even a thing anymore.

It seems rather unfair on you that you should have to pay for this if it's not necessary. Here in the UK, most kids get free school meals now. Is he actually eating breakfast properly at home? Maybe you're a little soft on him, and need to insist that he eats something before he goes into school. I always did. The trouble is, he could put on weight if he's overeating, and you don't want that. Raise your concerns with the school, if you have any.

@Strictsir that’s how it is in Dallas, but we live outside of Dallas and at my kids school, they have to pay here. It sucks. And yeah, he eats all of his breakfast now. I mean he used to throw a big hissy fit, but now he’s eating everything I make. And yes, I am a little softer on him, but also I think he’s just growing. And yeah, so far I’ve talked with his teacher about the snacks because last week he didn’t eat his breakfast at home and so I sent him some stuff to eat at school and his teacher is totally OK with that but also I’m gonna talk to the school and see if I can get them on reduce lunches. I don’t know how they determine that But me and my ex aren’t together so they should go off of my income and not his.

@TurtlePink Oh, I see. Yes, if there's any subsidy going then apply for that as these things add up, and you don't want a hefty bill at the end of each term/semester. I guess you'd be classed as a single parent, and life is expensive enough these days. I don't have children myself and it's still a struggle at times with bills coming in from everywhere! As you say, your boy is growing and it's important he's not put off food altogether. Good luck!
