Which is better: asking for permission or asking for forgiveness?

Permission of course. Saves me the scolding.

Depends on the situation. If it needs to be done right away, then I wouldn't ask for permission.

Asking for forgiveness and not undermining one's own decision making skill.

Forgiveness is *easier* but permission shows much more of a regard for the person.
