I think given the nature of reality- IE suffering, chaos, pain etc… We should do our best to have empathy. I’m not even sure we understand the human brain enough to realize what exactly is happening with sociopaths/psychopaths… Like maybe something in their actual brain is broken completely. That being said we have to have the empathy for ourselves to know when to protect our heart/soul and remove ourselves from the damage someone with no empathy inflicts. Empathy from a distance in that case. I think it is important to fight hate in ourselves no matter what because it destroys us from within more than it ever impacts someone else.
